Meet Our Governors

  • Cllr K. McKeon (LA)

    Chair

I am a retired secondary school teacher. My background and experience in education equip me with the skills and knowledge to be an informed governor of Chorley New Rd. I am very supportive of the school that serves the community I represent and have personal experience of the care it gives to its pupils. My interest is in education but my passion is politics!

  • Mrs Sadie Maxwell

    Vice-Chair

Hello, my name is Sadie Maxwell. I am a new governor for Chorley New Road school. I am married with two adult children and have a grandchild who is in year 3/4 at the school. We have lived in Horwich for 25 years. I have worked with children all my life and have been a primary school teacher for the past 30 years. I really enjoy spending time with young children and have been privileged to be part of their learning and development. My interests include drawing, reading, swimming, singing with a choir, and trips away in our camper van. I am looking forward to supporting the school in any way that I can.

  • Linda Burrows

    Headteacher

I became Headteacher at CNR in September 2014. I have been teaching for 19 years. When I am not in school I enjoy spending time with my husband. I also enjoy traveling and have been fortunate to have visited many wonderful places such as Thailand and South America.

  • Mr Anthony Harris

    Deputy Head-Staff Governor

  • Helen Osborne

    Parent Governor

I’m Helen Osborne and I have a son at Chorley New Road Primary Academy. I’m proud to represent the Parents of the CNR family, supporting the staff and parents in their roles. I am a Civil Servant and bring a wealth of management and business operational skills. I play an active role in the CNR PTFA, raising funds to add those little extras from leavers hoodies to festive gifts. We live in Horwich and I enjoy nothing more than sitting and knitting with a large glass of wine.

  • Zoe Ward

    Parent Governor

My name is Zoey Ward and I have two daughters at Chorley New Road Primary Academy. Our family’s experience of being part of the CNR family has been very positive and I am excited about being newly appointed as a Parent Governor, supporting the school in any way that I can to continue the fabulous work that goes on. I have been a primary school teacher for 18 years and am currently the Deputy Head Teacher of an independent school in Manchester. We live on a farm so enjoy spending lots of time outdoors as a family but, on the rare moments that I get time to myself, I enjoy curling up with a good book.

  • Jade Lyons

AHT at Rivington and Blackrod School

As a governor at CNR since 2022, it is a real pleasure and privilege to be working alongside a team of staff who are inclusive and forward thinking, who continually put the needs of their pupils first. I have 14 years’ experience as a Secondary school teacher of Business Studies working within the Bolton area, during which time I have gained a breadth of knowledge across a variety of middle and senior roles. For the past 6 years I have been working at Rivington and Blackrod High school as Assistant Headteacher with the responsibility for the quality of teaching and learning.

I look forward to continuing to work in and serve the Horwich community, pupils, families and staff through my governor role at CNR, and hope to support in contributing to the future successes of an inspiring school.
