Meet Our Governors

Meet Our Governors

Cllr K. McKeon (Chair) (LA)

I am a retired secondary school teacher, who is currently an elected member of Bolton and Horwich Councils. I am Bolton’s Cabinet Member for Schools and Education and a governor of Rivington and Blackrod High School. My background and experience in education equip me with the skills and knowledge to be an informed governor of Chorley New Rd. I am very supportive of the school that serves the community I represent and have personal experience of the care it gives to its pupils. My interest is in education but my passion is politics!

Miss L. Burrows (Head Teacher)

I became Headteacher at CNR in September 2014.  I have been teaching for 19 years.  When I am not in school I enjoy spending time with my husband.  I also enjoy travelling and have been fortunate to have visited many wonderful places such as Thailand and South America.

Mrs A. Haslam (Vice Chair)

My name is Anne Haslam and I have lived most of my life in Horwich. I am married and have two children who both attended CNR, before moving to Rivington and Blackrod. I am a retired primary school teacher, spending most of my teaching life in Westhoughton. My main responsibility was with year 6, so I have an idea of the pressures for everyone concerned. I believe every child should be encouraged and supported to do their best, whilst that is different for every child and not all children can be ‘high flyers’ , praise is a good motivator. As a governor of CNR, I shall do my best for the school and support it in any way I can.

Mrs C. Bramwell (Parent)

My name is Charlie Bramwell and I am a parent governor at Chorley New Road Primary School. I have 3 children. My older two children attended Chorley New Road and are currently studying for their A levels at Rivington and Blackrod High School. My youngest daughter is in year 4 at Chorley New Road.  I work as a childminder and enjoy many hobbies such as Thai Boxing, walking, photography and reading.

Mrs J. Kavanagh (Deputy-Staff Governor)

My name is Jessica Kavanagh and I am the deputy head teacher/SENCO  at Chorley New Road where I have worked for the last 5yrs. I love working with the children and parents at CNR and currently work very closely with Year 6 and those children with Special educational needs. I also take the choir.
I have 2 children and enjoy spending time with my family when not working. I particularly enjoy walking in the  countryside and picnics.

Mrs E. Taylor (Parent)

I am married with two children both of whom attend Chorley New Road. I have lived in Bolton for most of my life and attended Rivington and Blackrod High School. I have a degree in History and a postgraduate diploma in Law and I work as a solicitor at a firm in Bolton
As a parent governor I want to ensure that my children, and every other child who comes through our school, achieve their full potential. I see my role as a parent governor to ensure that decisions are being made in the best interests of all the children particularly from the point of view of parents and carers.
As you can imagine, working, being a parent governor and looking after two young children does not leave me with a lot of spare time. However, I play the Cello and enjoy playing and listening to music. I like going out for meals as a family and with friends. I try to do some exercise and enjoy going on family holidays.

Mr D. Conway (Co-opted)

Hi, my name is Dominic Conway and I have recently  become a co-opted Governor at CNR. I am a Director at Bolton at Home and have worked in Housing in Bolton and Horwich for the past 28 years. Outside of work I enjoy cycling, walking and the odd swim or two. I am really looking forward to supporting the children of CNR and assisting the school in anyway I can.

Mrs Sadie Maxwell (co-opted)

Hello, my name is Sadie Maxwell. I am a new governor for Chorley New Road school. I am married with two adult children and have a grandchild who is in year 3/4 at the school. We have lived in Horwich for 25 years. I have worked with children all  my life and have been a primary school teacher for the past 30 years.
